Testing 1-2: The Goods! x Jay Perez

Last month I got together with my friend Jay Perez, to shoot some fashion flicks for one of his classes at the Academy of Art College. He said he had a donkey mask and a tiger mask and I went from there. I instantly thought of fanciful dresses and frills and lace! And of course some 80's elements. I have some older pieces in my collection...Victorian, teens and twenties and I've always wanted to use them esp. since they are literally disintegrating! Not my fault, it's the way I found them but some fabrics, esp. silks, do not stand the test of time unless stored in an archival fashion...which can be very costly! But, that's another post. So here's what we came up with and some of the behind the scenes antics!

Inspired: Cutter Cutter vs. 80's Bootleg Gear

My home-girl recently launched her own brand Cookie Cutter. We are very connected in our love for vintage, esp. the bootleg, knock-off gear of the 80's and we both have a certain love and affection for Canal St. in NYC. I instantly loved her first drop of t-shirt graphics, the humor, the inspiration...all good. Check-it out!

H&M's Tribute to Marimekko

Today the H&M Tribute to Marimekko dropped in stores world wide. Marimekko is a Finnish textile company that's has been around since the 50's. Their textiles can be noticed by the bold patterns and often times bright colors. The H&M design team dove into the massive archive at Marimekko and created a 70 piece collection for men, women and children. It has been said that fashion icon Jackie Kennedy put Marimekko on the international map when she wore their dresses during her husband's 1960's presidential campaign. See some of my favorite picks from the H&M women's collection and a couple of the Original Goods! from my personal collection circa 1980's.

What is Still Ill?

If you have been asking yourself this question then, I have the answer for you. My homie Andrew is a hustler of sorts. I would call him a treasure hunter for sure! He's on the East Side, so we don't get into each others way while hunting, haha! He specializes in throw-back gear from the 80's/90's, sporty apparel and the stuff that B.B.D. and Mr. Huxtable used to wear, as well as the likes of N.W.A. He slangs his wears on-line and can provide guidance and insight as to what is "Still Ill?", peep his technique and you will find your answer. Still ill.

Got together with Mama and the crew a few weeks back to style her Spring '08 look-book shoot. We always have a fun time! And thankfully the weather was in our favor for this outdoor shoot. So you know who I do for Mama, classy and sassy...and "Always A Lady" So, you know I brought The Goods!

Dita Eyewear and the Cazal 920

Recently Dita Eyewear teamed up with one of our all time favorite brands from back in the day, Cazal to re-release the Cazal 920. Originally introduced in 1982, Dita and Cazal are offering a limited quantity of 250 pairs and at a pretty penny price of $750 a pair. Even though this release happened in late February at that price I'm thinking you could probably get your hands on a pair. But at that price, wouldn't you rather have the Original Goods??
