What Happens in Vegas...Day 4.

Ok, so the last post was my 100th post! I had big plans for the 100th post and still do but being on the road has proved difficult...so stay posted for the Big 100!! Ok, so yesterday's Vegas finds...more shoes, more shoes, more shoes, some belts, a little Versace (belt), a bit of Fendi (hand bag) and a little Bottega (circular gold handbag) never hurt nobody...the accessories have been crazy!!

What Happens in Vegas...Day 3.

Did a lot of tradeshow business today so didn't have too much time for shopping. I did managed to get away to one spot. They have "Ladies Day" on Wednesday's and offer 50% off to the ladies...I like a thrift store that appreciates the ladies, being a women certainly has it's advantages sometimes. AND the bounty of women's size 10 high heels was once again ridiculous!!

This Vegas find gets it's own special post. Deadstock Norma Kamali OMO knee high sneakers. OMO which stands for "On My Own" opened it's doors in 1978 with a shop at 6 West 56th Street in NY.

I am going to let the pictures speak for themselves. It was truly an exceptional day of shopping...mind blowing on some levels. Vegas sure knows how to put out and treat a lady right!

What Happens in Vegas...Day 2.

So it appears that all the ladies in Vegas with size 9 to 10 feet have decided to donate their vintage shoes to the local thrift stores. To those ladies I say, THANK-YOU!!

And this bit of romper goodness gets it's own picture (for obvious reasons), New Orleans apparently knows fun and it come in tie-dye romper formation!!

Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle...Fruition LV.

Stopped by Fruition yesterday to check their collection of Jeremy Scott pieces. The collection is amazing BUT what caught my eye is some of the re-worked vintage pieces they do. They understand what I have been saying all along...sometimes something just needs to be re-worked a little to be wearable...some items have something amazing going for them, like the pattern of the fabric but have so much working against them, like the shape or cut...Here are a couple of the items Fruition has improved upon. Taking that something old and giving it a second chance...

Vintage cycling jersey's have some amazing prints and patterns and often times vibrant colors. They reworked that unflattering mock neck into a sexy low cut "V" and instant wear ability!

And again, what once was a huge, not-so-cute dress gets a second chance...and looks so cute with those Jeremy Scott leggings!!

What Happens in Vegas...Day 1.

Packed up the Vue and rolled out to Vegas yesterday morning. It's trade show time and I have two responsibilities while in Vegas...cover the action for M.I.S.S. and shopping!! Made an attempt along the way but sadly the Goodwill doesn't open until 11am on Sundays... Fortunately there was still time for plenty of time for shopping once I made it to Vegas! Check the first days bounty...

The Goods!, The Noisettes and Marmalade!

Hannah from Marmalade let me know that Shingai Shinowa, the lead singer of The Noisettes was decked out in The Goods! for her performance at this years Siren Music Festival at Coney Island in Brooklyn. "Those" earrings and the romper are all The Goods! bought at Marmalade!!

Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle...Hairy Mary's Original

Sometimes things need a second chance. Sometimes you come across an item that has something great going for it, like the fabric but then might have something working against it...like the cut/shape. And how many of use have that sewing/mending/repair/alter pile that's a mile high? Somethings just need to be left to the pro's...and that's were "Hairy Mary's Original" steps in. We can thank designer and painter Sharon Broit for saving us from our "sewing" piles and re-working and and creating fabulous frocks from vintage fabrics and recycling vintage fashions into wearable and up-dated cuteness! Sharon is the proprietress of Hairy Mary's, a vintage clothing shop that not only carries vintage clothing (of course) but also her line "Hairy Mary's Original". Famous for her "boob tube" dress, Sharon has introduced many new styles to the line and although slinky polyester is her favorite fabric to work with but she has recently introduced items in cotton blend fabrics too!!

This one I added to my personal collection...

Sorry the posts have been so short as of late...this lady has been BUSY! Had a nice visit with Cindy at Ver Unica in SF yesterday and brought her some heels and boots! Sizes 7-10, so get to shopping!

The Global Goods! Osaka, Japan.

The Goods! can be found in all parts of the world and if you happen to get out to Osaka, Japan, please promise to visit "Rain" in the Minami (south) part of Osaka. Rain is owned and operated by my dear friend Hiro. When I started to take the steps to make this my job/life/career, I tried out my local collectibles fleamarket. I was still working my job of 6 years but wanted to see if I could do what I really loved for a living. At this very first fleamarket, I met Hiro. He was my very first sale. He has been a customer and friend ever since. Since I have stepped out of the fleamarket world earlier this year, I still open my home to friends, like Hiro. We had a nice time yesterday, catching up and sorting through The Goods! His store stocks men's clothing and here are some of the The Goods! that will be making their way back to Japan. Levi's cords, t-shirts, tooled leather belts, Adidas set-ups, old school Vans and Jazzy Shoes!!! So happy he was feeling the jazzy shoes!

If you are in or around Hialeah, Florida there's a new shop in town! OurFlyLives has recently opened to offer all your favorite streetwear brands mixed with vintage sunglasses, sneakers and select accessories from The Goods!! They currently stock the "hecho en mexico afro-centric day-glo native American rave" earrings but we are working on more!! The vintage game has seen a major break-out into the streetwear game in recent years (granted it has always been there it is just more accessible and incorporated these days) and we can only hope for more!!
