Hollywood Ranch Market: NY Edition, Season 2.

What a busy weekend! Saturday was spent running around like crazy trying to get the samples out to Japan for the next round of tees for Hollywood Ranch Market. Somehow, by the grace of God, it happened with 3 mins to spare at Fedex!!! None of which would have been possible with out inconveniencing a few friends, thank-you!!!!!!! And, now I can add screen-printer to my list of jobs!

Fresh off the press and hot out of the oven, well the dryer (for a moment there my friend James was researching a way I could dry the shirts in the oven...it's a long story) Needless to say Danny came through with the artwork and screens, Daria hooked up the printing facility and James came with his know-how and got me set-up. Two NY graphics for Spring/Summer...

And, I don't know how but I managed to find the time to whip up some hangtags. I printed them on brown paper shopping bags to keep within the "recycled" esthetic.

Here is where we cross our eyes, fingers, legs, etc. and hope the tradeshow goes well and lots are sold!!!

Just Did It! Fleamarket Finds!

Oh, I have been very, very bad the last couple of weekends. Over a year ago I pretty much stopped going to flea markets and garage sales. It was all part of my "I have to much stuff and need to focus on the merchandise at hand" plan. My theory with the fleas and the sales is that although my focus is clothes it became too easy to buy other things: knick-knacks, smalls, chotchkes, things I don't need! Before I knew it I was over-stocked with cute 70's mugs and more velvet paintings than I would like to admit...it had to stop. So for the most part, I quit. And it really helped. My mentality with a Thrift store is I can go in, and go straight to the shoes, hit the clothing and be out. No nickle mugs calling my name or louie-esque gold plastic frames, begging me to take them home and add them to the already more-than-any-one-needs collection. But with the amazing weather as of late, one flea market won't hurt, right? As long as I say "no" to day-glow chalk ware banks and big eyed kiddie pictures, right? right. So the past two Sundays I have hit up my local flea market and damn the pickin's where good. Perhaps with a more focused mind-set I can start to, slowly introduce this ritual back into my life, maybe.

holy mother of nike! this really is a rarity, not that these designs are neccessarily rare but coming across a bunch almost never happens. It was one of those moments where I needed to keep it cool for fear that any sign of excitement would cause the 50 cents each price to skyrocket to a million dollars!! Granted, it never would have happened in this situation, dude was just happy to get rid of his old gym gear...and I was happy to help!

And,well what can I say, throw on some pumps, maybe a belt and you got the look!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at <span class=

These were really the reason I came back to the flea this past weekend. You see for some reason I passed them up the prior weekend, part of trying to focus? Maybe an out of body experience? Crazy, I know. The cute thing is my friend Michelle bought me a pair as a gift the prior weekend, a great friend that knows me too well! Neither of us could find them yesterday and as I was about to give up, I walked past a booth and on the ground in a box I caught a glimpse of the neon love! Don't think they are old but I am certain that they are beyond good!

And keeping with the theme, an all over smiley face print tee that is so "of the moment" nu-rave that it is actually even more funny than eva!

I told you there was a theme. Are you visualizing the outfit possibilities with the before mentioned items and this Swatch Watch on your wrist!

And a few items worth sharing!! Creepy Ceramic face necklaces, more than sexy ankle boots, i-wish-they-had-more-of-these-animal-print-shopper-you-better-get-over-to-chinatown-or-
you-nearest-little-mexico-and-cop-yours-NOW-tote, and some super hot belts. I am thinking
the black and white one might go with the New Balance, muscle pants fit, but we'll see!

So, yeah, what do you think? I think it might be ok if I baby-step my way back in to the flea market and garage sale scene...we'll see!

Hollywood Ranch Market: SF Edition, Season 1.

And yet another side hustle! Last year I started a project with Japan's famed, Hollywood Ranch Market store. They carry a mix of new, vintage and recycled re-make clothing. The shop is as beautiful as their goods and I am happy to be apart of their merchandise line. Together we have created a line of recycled t-shirts and zipper hoodies. The garments are over-dyed black and I work with the buyer to select graphics from my personal vintage t-shirt collection to re-create and print onto the t-shirts and hoodies. We print right over any existing graphics, any minor holes or stains...the idea is to have these minor character flaws of the garment as a reminder to the wearer that they are wearing a recycled item, a garment that has been given a second chance. The graphics we select are themed around major U.S. cities. Hollywood Ranch Market carries the line within there store as well as shops the line at multiple trade shows through-out the year to sell to other stores in Japan. The first season focused on San Francisco and currently in the works is New York. The line is called Liz B. By The Goods!, they insisted on the "Liz B". part, which always makes me giggle...my name on a shirt?!?! Here's a look at the first season from last year...

It has been about 7 years since I have been to the store and I hope to get back someday to see The Goods! on the racks! They also have another store called Blue Blue which specializes in traditional indigo dyed goods, so amazing and beautiful! If you are ever in the Daikanyama district in Tokyo, please visit and make sure to eat at their cafe Bombay Bazar, located below Blue Blue...make sure to get the Blueberry Drink, it is the tastiest!!

A message from your local thrift...

There are all sorts of messages to be found at your local thrift store. Perhaps the meaning is directed right at you or maybe someone you know. They can come from any department and in any form. Regardless, if it is a 10 cent mug or the label in that tacky-tissue-in-the-pocket-granny-sweater, I will share with you these messages as they come to me from your local thrift. This weeks message:

Dept: Misplaced, found under a clothing rack propped up against the wall, apparently someone had second thoughts...

Gettin' Down at Lulu's!

Oh whata night! I managed to get out Saturday night and make it over to Down at Lulu's. Seth and Tina own and operate this sweet vintage clothing and hair salon combo in Oakland, CA. A one stop shop for some vintage dud's and getting your hair did, a brilliant idea! It was their first time hosting a fashion show which included a segment of vintage looks from the shop and round two offered up the debut of Bay Area local Cristalette's D.I.Y. funky fashions. It was totally bananas, a real fun time...check it out:

You can never have enough paint splatter, studded, patched items in your life.

And there is always room for cute little lamb print sweatshirts...

And, well I am a sucker for culottes. They are quite brilliant, what a better way to have the look of a skirt but the ability to do cartwheels and handstands without sharing the color of your undies (if you are wearing undies) with the world!

I am a firm believer that one cannot have enough animal print in there lives, especially when hot pink is involved!

It was love at first site! No really it was, this dress is no joke and Michelle bought the other one and together, in these dresses will be rule the world!!!! Well, at least the dance floor.

This jacket is amazing. Besides the obvious snake print goodness, the design is insane, check out all those fancy pockets, especially those shoulder pockets...for all that shoulder cargo you carry...huh? Design details at it's best!

Don't worry, I left plenty for you. If in "The Town" make sure to check 'em out!

The Goods! x XLR8R

A little over-due but never too late!! Being a hustler takes many side hustles...one of the many "hats" I wear is being a stylist or pusher of crazy steeze, as I like to call it. I had the wonderful opportunity to style a shoot for XLR8R magazine's Jan/Feb issue 104, Altered States. The theme was very close to my forever raving heart and was the perfect opportunity to incorporate some of The Goods! How appropriate are vintage Freshjive tees? So appropriate! Here are two of the flicks from the spread: Rave New World.

Reduce, Re-Use, Recycle...Hannah Kurland.

You might have noticed a theme in my most recent posts...Marmalade sound familiar? Well, I am going to keep rolling with it because there is so much to talk about!!! Besides being one of my favorite vintage stores in NYC, Hannah Kurland, the lovely lady that owns and operates this fine establishment also has her own clothing line. Part of her offerings are these beautiful scarf dresses. All made of vintage scarves that she hand selects and then hand cuts each piece to be sewn locally. No two dresses are alike but each as beautiful as the last, all silk and all made to make you feel like the million bucks that you are!! Available at Marmalade NYC, I couldn't think of a more perfect item for summer in the city...do yourself a favor and put one of these dresses at the top of you shopping list!
