Iowa-wa-wa-wa-what!!

Of course I had to visit the family on my way back!!! But before I got in I had to take a "detour" at Iowa 80, "the worlds largest truck stop". Now, I have been to many truck stops in my time and I just might bet that this is the worlds largests and if not, it is pretty darn close. I realize I am straying from the path of vintage clothing but there are somethings I never thought a trucker needed, like a rubber chicken and wanted to share with you...enjoy good buddy!

There were two real trucks in here. You could get inside and play truck driver or if you where an actual truck driver you could check out all the latest trucker 'ish.

Rolled out to the flea with the family...Was fun to know you can still come up on good stuff for a quarter, like 'Teen magazines from the 70's...Also, good to know that even in Fort Dodge, Iowa they know what's up...

I sware ZZ Top was selling this. At least it was there look alikes.

If you have been following my ride, this is the same fleamarket I attended 25 years ago with my mom and grandma. (see first post, "It Runs Deep"). Was a neat feeling to be back, would have been even more amazing to be able to have mom and Grandma Rose (R.I.P) in this picture but you get the idea...

And then there is always those moments where you can't believe your eyes...when you see something and you're just like, I can't believe what I am looking and and it is going to be mine!!! And you get closer, and closer and the fine print reads "N.F.S."!!! NOT FOR SALE!!! This was that piece...so sad for me...

My time was brief in the Chi, hours really. But while at the Project/Pool show in NY I met Jamie the owner of Clothes Optional, a vintage store in Chicago. So I thought I would check her scene...which is super cute!!

Going Back to Cali...

The End of an Era AKA "BEST SUMMER EVA"!!!

Friday August 18th

So, I have extended my stay and extended it some more...I really gotta go. Have to get back to Cali so I can leave again to Las Vegas for Magic!! I am only allowing myself a week to get from here (NY) to there (CA). And with no more excuses as to why I should stay, no more lagging, I tearfully load 'em up and reluctantly move 'em out...Here are some picts of my speedy (but remember only 5-10 miles over the posted speed limit) drive back "home".

The Dig.

So, there is lot's of "digging" involved in sniffing out "the goods!". Here is an oh-so-glamorous video clip I made of "the dig". Much thanks to my camera "man" for capturing the action!!

Fleamarket Steeze ala New York City

Side Note: Yes, Yes it is true I have been back from my road trip for sometime yet I have found it a challenge to keep up with ye ole' blog...So let's take it back to preschool and "for pretends" imagine that this post and the many that will follow were made months ago and that you are still really excited and curious to see how my trip ended up!!! I would really appreciate it! Here we goooooooo...

Saturday August 5th

Part of "the plan" in doing this cross-country-NY-post-up-deal was to try the New York fleamarket scene...Ms. Alice of Rockit Retro and I decided on the 25th St. Market, after some reccomendations and feedback from other vintage clothing dealers. We parlay in the a.m. just as most of our friends are going to bed, and caravan thru the streets of N.Y. Things are much more lax out here, as arriving at 5 in the morning proved to be way too early for anyone, vendors or sellers (deff not the Rosebowl scene) needlesstosay we where more than ready.

Having learned the value of sharing at a very young age, Alice and I created one giant booth of pure vintage love and gaurenteed good times!!
M.I.S.S. Crew was in the building or in the booth, and in full effection! Ms. Catzie of Dork Magazine and all-around cool lady fame, graced us with her presence, her funny, funny, presence and struck a few poses for the camera.

Dress, The Goods!

N.W.A. Video Ho Bathing Suit Sling Thing, The Goods!
Alice rocks a Black Terrycloth Gaucho Jumper, The Goods!

Being the fashion plate that Ms. Catzie is, she made sure that her Nike I.D. Air Max's matched her "sling".

Ok, get ready cause things get pretty silly right here. Catzie, I adore you, you are a super trooper fo' sho'!

Also had, Ms. Marina in the house...I really do feel fortunate to be surrounded by such positive, strong, independent and laid-back ladies. Here we have Marina showcasing a "Selena" inspired look by Rockit Retro:

Also had a visit from some of the
Undr-Crwn Family...

So a little money was made, a couple of contacts where made, more than one incident that required secuirity to escort folks away from our booth happened but the goodtimes had where by far the best and then these shoes found there way into my life...Sexy in shoe formation, Prince was so right,"Sexy never left", holla!!!!
